FAQ

After existing here for several years, some of the folks here have been receiving emails asking about many things, and occasionally some journalists asking funnier questions. We have gathered some of the more frequently asked questions in order to give you a clearer idea of what this Disappearing Corners project is all about. Of course, you are most welcome to ask some new questions; feel free to get in touch with us.

Is DC a society or group? Are you taking new members?
No. We’re not an organization. We’re just a group of friends. We don’t really take in “new members”.

How can I participate in your future events?
If you wanted to join us, simply send us a message with your email and we’ll keep you posted.

I heard that DC organizes free walk tours. Can you tell me more?
OK. Let’s face the reality. There’s no such thing like a free lunch. We don’t offer “guided tours”. We go out in a group when either of us read something interesting which we have yet to discover. And as we love to include like-minded people, we’ll send out invitations to those who dare to join us — as we cannot guarantee anything that happens during the walk. We sometimes ended not finding anything we read and this can be truly disappointing. You might be interested to read a bit about our previous tours on this page.

I don’t take photos but am very interested in heritage. Can I join you?
Oh yes! Of course we love you. We love people who love history. Come… and we love you more if you love beer!

Why do you always include a phrase like “Pray God it will not rain tomorrow” in all your invitations?
Yes… … believe it or not, it always rains whenever we go out and an umbrella is one of the must-haves when you go out with us. It’s become our ODD tradition.
